Pet Safety Net Program

Pet Safety Net is a program that provides alternatives to surrendering your pet to a shelter. These alternatives may include re-homing your pet, obtaining behavior help if your pet has a behavioral issue, finding pet friendly housing, or contacting a breed rescue, among other alternatives. It also includes Trap, Neuter, Return, (TNR) for spaying and neutering unsocialized stray and feral cats, as well as resources for low-cost and no-cost spay/neuter certificates and low-cost vaccine and microchipping services. Emergency cat food can be supplied to those in need and to feral cat feeders.

Re-homing Service
This service is designed to help people whose pets are already spayed or neutered. If your pet is not spayed or neutered, we strongly encourage you to do so before re-homing your pet. Please see our free and low cost spay/neuter information. If your pet is spayed or neutered and up to date on shots, you may post a picture of your pet on our website. Please send pictures and information about your pet, along with your contact information to: admissions@humanesocietymanatee.org. People looking to adopt may then contact you directly. We also ask that you contact us if your pet finds a new home so we can update our webpage.

You may also refer to our “Perfect Match” and Adoption Application forms for guidance on screening potential adopters.

Discounted Services
There are several companies that offer discounted rates to people who are referred by the Humane Society of Manatee County. There are Dog Trainers, Pet Groomers, Boarding, and Carpet Cleaners who have agreed to offer discounted rates to our referrals.

Behavior Help
Please ask for more information about Training and Education or click here to learn more about handling behavioral issues:  http://www.ddfl.org/tips.htm. There are programs, discounts and handouts that can help you with making life with your pet more enjoyable.

Appointment System and Placement List
Once you have exhausted all the resources available through Pet Safety Net, you can contact The Humane Society of Manatee County Admissions Department at 941-747-8808 x 314 to make an appointment.
